The iPad is great for drawing and painting. One of the great things about digital art is that you cannot make a mistake, everything can be changed or undone. For many of us, this frees us to take more chances and be more creative in our work. Many traditional artists like to try things out digitally — but of course, you can make beautiful finished images on your iPad.
This two-part workshop explores the app Procreate. You can use the app like a sketchbook or canvas and create just as you would on a piece of paper. You can also use some special — dare we say magical? — digital art tools to simplify your workflow or create new effects.
This workshop has two sessions. In the first, we will focus on the app and how to use it. We will learn about layers, digital brushes, how to choose colors and make a palette.
In the second session we will continue our explorations — learning how to make simple collages, We will learn how the layers can interact with each other, how to make selections and transformations, how to change colors, and how to add textures.
We will talk about saving and printing your images as well!
What to bring:
- Your iPad with the Procreate app loaded (Procreate costs $12.99 in the App Store.
- Optional but great to have, an Apple pencil
This course is offered in conjunction with the exhibition PIXELS.
