Be ready for your summer road trip to the MFA! The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) is one of the most extraordinary museums in the nation. This lecture includes a brief history of the institution and an overview of its most important holdings. These include precious artifacts of Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, treasures of the Renaissance and Baroque represented by Velasquez, El Greco, and Rembrandt. There are important examples of Impressionism and Post Impressionism by Renoir, Degas and Van Gogh, and a room dedicated to Monet. A stellar collection of American Art includes examples by John Singer Sargent, John Singleton Copley, Georgia O'Keeffe, as well as Paul Revere's silver collection. There are also new temporary exhibitions on many topics including an exciting one on Salvador Dali coming this summer.

Suzanne Altman is an art educator, art historian, and CCMoA Docent who has presented art and art history programs throughout New York, New Jersey, and Cape Cod for both adult and teenage audiences.
