Bossa Nova means "new trend" in Portuguese, and refers to a style of music popularized in Brazil in the late 1950's. Using elements of samba and jazz this style was developed in the beachside areas of Rio de Janeiro.
The guitarist Tad Price had been studying Brazilian music for years and after meeting a young Brazilian singer named Rayssa Delorey on February 2013, his vision of a Bossa Nova band was realized with the creation of Clã da Bossa Nova. Rayssa moved to Cape Cod from Brazil when she was 10 years old. She l was introduced to Bossa Nova by her mother, who sang to her all the popular tunes and always encouraged her to pursue singing. Other band members include Michael Dunford on percussion, Peter Murray on Sax, and Susan Goldberg on Bass. See previous performances here and here.
All concerts are held outside, under the tent in our sculpture garden. In case of rain, the concert will be held inside the museum in our spacious gallery. No need to bring chairs, we have plenty for everyone! Feel free to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on our lawn before the concert!
