Digital Art is an artistic work or practice that uses digital technology as an essential part of the creative process. This includes the use of computers, mobile phones or portable handheld devices in conjunction with a variety of apps. Digital art can take many forms including paintings made entirely of pixels, collage, original photography, animation and video.

Digital art has always been revolutionary. In the last fifteen years technology has opened up a variety of creative possibilities to anyone with a smartphone or a personal computer. In this talk we will look at the development of Digital Art and talk about some of the works of art in the Pixels Exhibition as well as works by a number of digital artists. This collaborative exhibition gives us a rare glimpse into how people around the world are using their computers and devices to make art. Pixels is on view from November 22 through February 11, 2024.

Barbara Braman is a digital artist and photographer. She has been working with mobile Digital Art since 2008. She uses her iPhone and iPad to create paintings with collage elements. She is a founder of the Digital Art program at the Cape Cod Art Center where she is a Master Artist. She leads the Cape Cod Art Center Digital Art Group with members from across the continental United States, as well as Canada, and Mexico, and is a founding member of the National Association of Digital Artists (NaDA). NaDA is dedicated to promoting digital art as a valid fine art medium.

Barbara's work has appeared in a number of national and international exhibitions. Her work is exhibited locally at Nirvana Coffee Company in Barnstable and can be seen on her website: www.barbarabraman.com.
