Michael A. Giaquinto was the Exhibitions Curator at the Cape Cod Museum of Art (CCMoA) for 17 years from 2003 - 2020. During that span he curated over 200 exhibitions.

Giaquinto is a prolific artist and educator, working non-objectively in acrylic paint on canvas, creating his own style within the modernist tradition. He has exhibited in museums and galleries across the region and his artwork can be found in private, corporate and museum collections.

As the recipient of the 2023 CCMoA MUSE ARTIST AWARD, Michael A. Giaquinto is recognized with this one-person exhibition.

ACCESS TO MY IMAGINATION

my paintings are made up of brush strokes (letters of words)

formed into sentences developed in my mind - as thoughts & ideas -

put forward through my applying paint on canvas -

the paint strokes for me are (letters) not yet put into words -

in front of me is a blank canvas at the ready for an image

developed in paint - by use of brush strokes -

I translate my thoughts (letters or words) to a vision on canvas

using paint - a painterly sight begins to form...

I have constant thoughts of the act of painting -

using materials I wish to use -

acrylic paint - brushes - canvas - some water - acrylic medium -

...with a rag in my hand to wipe clean brushes - I begin

to paint - I am in an area of calm and enjoyment - a sense all my own

that the paint has created - giving me ACCESS TO MY IMAGINATION -

terms:

canvas: an area to divide into a composition -

acrylic paint: a medium used to show the composition -

completed painting: made up of composition & acrylic paint -
